The Our Father

The Our Father

The our father is the most sublime of all single prayers, it gives love and adoration to our heavenly father acknowledges his kingship over all of us, Promises obedience to him on earth and in heaven. It asks not only for our food and sustenance, but it asks him for food for both the mind and the soul. It asks him for his mercy on our sinfulness, according to the mercy we show to others. It asks him not to test and tries beyond our ability, but to lead us away from all evil and protect us.

Our father: our father acknowledges that he is our father and creator and has dominion over us.

Who art in heaven: this acknowledges that he has existed from all eternity, from which he creates and rules all things with infinite love. He created everything out of love for us and for all of his creatures.

Hallowed Be Thy Name: Father your name be glorified and praised by the Angels and the Saints and your creatures from eternity to eternity.

Thy Kingdom Come: May your kingdom come, and rule in the hearts of all men and all of your creatures for all eternity.

Thy Will Be Done On Earth As It Is in Heaven: That we should live and love as your true sons and daughters, love you with all our heart strength and soul and love each other as we love ourselves.

Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread: Father supply us with our needs in our foods, both physically and spiritually fill us with your wisdom and understanding with the words from your mouth, and fill us with the bread of life. Your glorious sun in the Blessed Sacrament.

And forgive us our trespasses As We Forgive Those Who Trespass against Us: Father, we are poor sinners and we sin against you and each other. Teach us to forgive each other and to ask you for your divine mercy.

And Lead Us Not into Temptation but Deliver Us from Evil: Father, lead us on the way of holiness and love and generosity and lead us away from the temptations of our enemy, Satan that someday we may come and live with you for ever in paradise, Amen.
